Hunting in Red Dead Redemption is truly the fastest way to making money. This guide will teach you how to optimize hunting so that you can bag the biggest cash rewards possible.



How To:

1. If you don’t have the Semi-auto Shotgun yet, go to Escalera in Mexico, and purchase one for $1000 ($500 with high honor).
2. Go to any gunsmith store and purchase as much bait and chewing tobacco as you can carry.
3. Go to the wilderness and set up camp. Set a waypoint to the Tall Trees area and quick travel there.
4. Throw bait around an open area where you can see. Take several steps back. Equip your Semi-auto Shotgun.
5. 5. Several animals may appear. Kill then when possible, but keep an eye out for bears. If bears approach the bait, get close enough to be in effective shotgun range. Go into Dead-Eye and put five shells in its head. Go into Dead-Eye again for fast reload and to put five more shells on any other bears in the surrounding area. Skin all your game. Killing one bear usually attracts more, so be weary.
6. After killing two or three bears, make a camp and save the game. Leave the camp and repeat steps four and five until you have run out of bait or chewing tobacco.
7. Set up camp and quick-travel to Escalera. Go to the gunsmith store and sell your hunted game. Purchase more ammo, bait and chewing tobacco when necessary.
8. Repeat steps 2-7 until achievement is unlocked.

Tips:

• Use chewing tobacco in emergencies (when bears come charging at you and you need to kill them fast).
• Bringing medicine along won’t kill you, but bears can.
• Kill and skin any other animals you may come across.
• Having your horse stand over a dead animal removes the animal skinning animation, which saves plenty time.
• The game theorizes that the rarer an animal is to a store, the more the store will pay to buy said animal parts. Therefore, bringing animal provisions from the north-eastern of the map to the south-western town of Escalera bags a lot more than just selling your bear products at Blackwater.
• You don’t actually have to have $10000 in hand. You only need $10000 total earnings.

Warnings:

• Save and save often. Bears will kill you more often than you think. It’s a good idea to save after killing two or three bears.
